Dudh Talai Lake, a beautiful small pond, is located centrally at the foothills of Macchla Magra. Dudh Talai is adjacent and internally connected to the beautiful Lake Pichola, near Shiv Niwas Palace (residence of erstwhile Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar), in the heart of Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Doodh Talai shares a common link road to 4 major tourist attractions of the city, Namely; Manikya Lal Verma Garden, Lake Pichola, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Garden, and Karni Mata Temple.
1) Manikya Lal Verma Garden :
The Manikya Lal Verma Garden (also known as Doodh Talai garden), has views of Lake Pichola and Doodh Talai Lake. It was constructed in the year 1995 by Nagar Parishad (Municipal Council) Udaipur.
There are steps constructed to reach the garden, as well as a separate road for vehicles. The Manikya Lal Verma garden is a favorite place for kids with many swings & recreational activities to keep them happy & engaged & well known for its tranquillity and beauty. This terraced park is popular amongst the tourists as a Peaceful lakeside nature park with views of the city, surrounding hills & the sunset.
This lush green park is beautifully landscaped and has viewpoints to enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Pichola. On the top of this hillock sits the auspicious Karni Mata Temple. Situated at a 150-meter distance from the stairs starting from the garden, the temple can be reached through the pathway at the backside of the Verma Park & through a ropeway.
2. Lake Pichola :
Lake Pichola, an artificial freshwater lake, created way back in the year 1362 AD was named after the nearby village Picholi. It is one of the several contiguous lakes, with beautiful Scenic views, developed in and around Udaipur city.
Located in the center of the city Lake Pichola is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Udaipur. Flanked by islands, palaces, temples, mansions, ghats, and restaurants, Lake Pichola offers something for everyone.
One of the most famous attractions Lake Palace sits right in the middle of the lake. Mohan Mandir and Jag Mandir are other islands catching attention from Lake Pichola. The enchanting views of sunrise and sunset from the lake make it one of the favorite tourist spots.
The Pal constructed at the edges of the lake ensures the safety of visitors. Camel ride, Horse ride, and Boat rides add to the beauty of this place. From this tourist place, one can see the backside of the famous City Palace, which is known as Shiv Niwas.
3. Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Garden :
Also known as Musical fountain garden, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Park consists of green gardens, shrubs, and a mesmerizing environment of peace and calm. Garden holds a statue of Pandit Deendayal as the park is made in his memory. Every evening, there is a musical fountain show which attracts all walks of life especially kids. Small rides like a see-saw, slides, etc are there for children to enjoy and relax at the hillock. As it is on top of the hillock, fresh air can calm you from the shore of the city. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Park is developed by the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) of Udaipur.
Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay garden with lavish greenery and beautiful fountains offers a stunning view of some of the best landmark places of Udaipur city. This includes Jag Mandir Palace, Lake Pichola, City Palace, and of course the speculator sunset view.
From the garden, a ropeway is constructed for the Karni Mata Temple, it is 4 min ride and it is at a height of around 500 meters.
4. Karni Mata Temple :
Shri Manshapurna Karni Mata Temple is a Hindu temple located on the Macchla Magra Hills, near the Doodh Talai Lake in Udaipur, Rajasthan. It enshrines the stone idol of Mata Karni. One can have a panoramic view of the whole city as well as its lakes and City Palace from the temple.
The walk is pollution-free as no vehicles can enter the well-managed hill boundary.
